{"id":90,"date":"2011-06-01T18:47:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-01T18:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aliciapaterson.com\/wordpress\/?p=90"},"modified":"2023-04-19T18:48:02","modified_gmt":"2023-04-19T18:48:02","slug":"autonomous-unmanned-aerial-vehicle-uav","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/geekgirl.io\/wordpress\/personal\/autonomous-unmanned-aerial-vehicle-uav\/","title":{"rendered":"Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Knowing I&#8217;m a gadget fan a while ago a friend sent me a&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/MikroKopterHolger#p\/u\/10\/gvH2f-AewX8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">youtube&nbsp;<\/a>clip of a german guy who had designed a very clever multi-rotor remote control helicopter that was capable of automonous and stable flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A couple of clicks later I discovered FPV (first person view) where the aircraft can carry a camera that transmits video back to the ground where the pilot is wearing video goggles therefore seeing whatever the camera sees.&nbsp; Add on a head-tracking device and a tilt\/pan mount for the camera and you have an immersive virtual flying experience!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The multi-rotor helicopters are fairly expensive, however electrically powered foam fixed wing aircraft are very cheap (&lt;$200) and offer a great way to get into FPV flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To start I selected the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.multiplexusa.com\/rr-rtf-models\/receiver-ready\/twinstar_2.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Multiplex Twinstar I<\/a>I kit for about $150.&nbsp; Tho this I will need to add a radio reciever as well as the other various electronic brains it will need to know where it is, control itself and transmit video back to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/rcexplorer.se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Swede&nbsp;<\/a>has a similar setup to what I am aiming at &#8211; have a look at this<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6Gmlh9IbdGE&amp;feature=player_embedded\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&nbsp;HD youtube video<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Knowing I&#8217;m a gadget fan a while ago a friend sent me a&nbsp;youtube&nbsp;clip of a german guy who had designed a very clever multi-rotor remote control helicopter that was capable of automonous and stable flight.
